Bangor Information

BANGOR
The most populous town in Northern Ireland, Bangor is also the country’s most popular holiday destination. This idyllic seaside resort nestled on the enchanting coast of Down has one of the most beautiful seafronts in the UK, an oasis of colour with its glorious promenade walk and landscaped gardens. Bangor is also Northern Ireland’s primary sailing destinations and boasts the country’s biggest and most prestigious marina, which plays host to numerous sailing events each year.
With its first class club house, 24hr 365days state-of-the-art facilities and superb marine services is it any wonder that over 1500 boats visit each year?
The town itself embraces both modern and old and is vibrant and colourful. There are countless restaurants serving delicious locally caught seafood, traditional Irish cooking and international cuisine.
The pub scene is as you would expect of Ireland with a hospitable, jolly atmosphere and plenty of damn fine ale and whiskey. Shoppers are also in for a treat at the town’s Flagship Centre where you can find just about anything you want and we mustn’t forget the exciting Wednesday market.
Away from the centre the coast is magnificent and the hinterland verdant. There is plenty to see and do outdoors including Cairn Wood and Crawfordsburn Country Park.
For the little ‘uns there is Ark Open Farm or Pickie Fun Park and culture vultures have a cornucopia of wonderful heritage sites to choose from.
All in all if you are looking for a great family holiday you cannot go far wrong with Bangor. It really does have something for everyone.
From outdoor enthusiasts to fun-seekers, beach combers to foodies, romantic couples to whole families, Bangor has some magic hidden up its sleeve just for you.
