Alicante Information

ALICANTE
Valencia’s ‘White Fortress’, Alicante has a history dating back way beyond the third century BC and today combines, entertainment, business and education almost seamlessly. Traditionally an important port town, its harbour and waterfront has become a magnet for members of the yachting fraternity and water-sports enthusiasts the world over. With abundant moorings, superb marine services and a wide choice of nautical schools and sailing clubs the marina is one of the many social centres to be found in Alicante. To accommodate so many seafaring visitors the harbour has developed into a great area for wining and dining with restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.

The city is extremely proud of its heritage so, as you would expect there is a wealth of fascinating historic buildings and museums to visit. From the Castle of Santa Barbara to Museo de las Hogueras to Museo Municipal Municipal Casayou its possible to experience Alicante from its roots to the modern day. It must be said that the majority of visitors come in search of sun and sand and Alicante certainly doesn’t disappoint on that front. The fine white sand beaches vary from party central to quiet family areas to hectic activity based funlands and are all of the highest quality.

Alicante has received some bad press over the years, some of it deserved. To its credit, it has taken the criticism on board and acted accordingly and, today it’s popularity is as indisputable as its high quality. The quintessential Spanish easide resort, it offers a satisfyingly broad range of holiday choices and remains a top destination for young and old alike.
