WARM WELCOME TO 2013

ImageWell as another year ends and a new one begins, now has to be a good time to look back on 2012 with great fondness, and look forward to 2013 with great enthusiasm .

It’s certainly been a busy and successful 2012 for Harbourguides and their crew. There have been many new developments to the website, including the new chat forum, comments and review section for our advertisers, and the start of our European venture, just to mention a few.

It’s also been an extremely adventurous year for the crew, as we sailed the Harbourguides yacht “Knight Song” from Preston to Barcelona so she can be used as a base for our European sites. She won’t be static there though, as she will be sailed from location to location so we can use the experience to make better guides. Well done to Chloe Fisher and Steve Mally on getting her to Barcelona safe and sound, the Biscay leg was extremely rough at times and the crossing from Crosshaven to Porto took them five and a half days because of the conditions, a great adventure by all accounts though.

Visitors to Harbourguides increased yet again in 2012, this time by almost 20%. Every year we increase the number of visitors to our site, and this is a trend that we intend to continue. Financially for many businesses 2012 has been another tough year and it’s been sad to see some fall by the wayside, often by no fault of their own, however we are extremely proud and relieved to report that Harbourguides Ltd is in ship shape and although we have had to reef from time to time we continue to ride this financial storm with some ease.

This is also a great opportunity to say a massive thank you to each and every one of our advertisers and sponsors, who without, this website wouldn’t exist. We wish all of you a fantastic 2013 and we will endeavour to do everything possible to drive business your way in 2013.

So what are Harbourguides plans for 2013? Well certainly more website developments, as the fabulous Devto keep us ahead of the competition. We will be having meetings in February 2013 with their MD Robert Bethall to discuss what we can do to keep improving the site. One thing is for sure, we will be putting our profits once again into our web development to improve, and in turn provide a better service to our advertisers and our visitors, this has stood us in good stead for the past twelve years and this policy will remain.

There are so many people and businesses to thank for both their achievements and assistance to us that it’s not possible to mention each and every one in an article like this, but a special thanks has to go out to Paul Smith, who visits almost every site we have in all kinds of conditions and only comes back to base occasionally he has a massive impact on the site. But also thank you to everyone who has helped Harbourguides in any way since its launch in 2001.

So here we come 2013, and what a year it’s going to be. Life really is what you make of it. We are going to have some ups, and we will no doubt have some downs, but one thing is for sure, we are going to have a lot of fun! So on behalf of all the Harbourguides Crew, have a fantastic 2013, make the most of every moment and just enjoy..We certainly will.
